Senate Antitrust Bill Picks Winners and Losers, Blocks Helpful Search Results

Sens. Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) and Chuck Grassley (R-IA)’s American Innovation and Choice Online Act prohibits Google from showing a range of helpful search results but allows Google’s competitors to show the same information.

The bill bans Google search results from showing:

1. Google Flights but allows Expedia to show its flight results

2. Google Business Profiles, including directions, phone numbers, and business hours but allows DuckDuckGo to show the same information

3.Google Reviews of restaurants but allows Yelp to show its reviews of restaurants

The facts are clear: S. 2992, the American Innovation and Choice Online Act, is a “picking winners and losers” bill that bans search results American consumers and businesses enjoy every day.
